Safe End of Life Disposal of Electric Vehicles Batteries in Samoa

In Samoa, the shift towards electric mobility is gaining momentum, promising a greener and more sustainable future for the local population. However, the country faces challenges with its constrained infrastructure, particularly in managing electric vehicles and their batteries.

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has played a pivotal role in developing tailored solutions for Samoa’s unique context. Through close collaboration with local authorities and key stakeholders, research is being carried out that is aimed at establishing the foundation for a holistic e-mobility implementation strategy that addresses challenges associated with electric vehicle batteries. WREN’s Director, Dr. Amardeep Wander, has been engaged to provide policy advice on developing appropriate systems for the safe end-of-life disposal of electric vehicle batteries. The report created is dedicated to exploring best practices and guidelines for the effective integration of e-mobility solutions, along with the safe and long-term disposal of electric batteries.
