As Samoa’s shift toward electric mobility gathered pace, WREN’s Director, Dr. Amardeep Wander, was engaged by UNDP to provide policy advice on developing appropriate systems for the safe end-of-life disposal of electric vehicle batteries. Working alongside local authorities and key stakeholders, the project established a foundation for a holistic e-mobility strategy tailored to Samoa’s context.
The resulting report explores best practices and guidelines for integrating e-mobility solutions alongside responsible long-term battery disposal, contributing to a greener and more sustainable transport future for the country.
Amardeep contributed to chapters in the report detaining the current waste management situation in Samoa, the ability of the current infrastructure and the stakeholders to manage ELVs and future e-vehicles and contributed to policy advise in the report detailing the development of appropriate legislative and policy landscape that would support the appropriate disposal of end-of-life e-vehicles.
